Lithuania on Saturday joined the ranks of a number of European countries to confirm their highest single day rise in coronavirus infections since the onset of the pandemic in March.
The Baltic European Union member state confirmed 99 new positive tests in the past 24 hours, the government's health authority BNS said.
The latest figures eclipse by some margin the country's previous one-day record caseload of just over 60, BNS said.
Lithuania, which has nearly 3 million inhabitants, has so far recorded a total of 3,664 confirmed coronavirus infections and 87 related deaths.
