Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg on Monday announced she would donate 100,000 euros (120,270 dollars) for a more equitable distribution of Covid-19 vaccines.
The money is to go to the World Health Organization's (WHO) international vaccine alliance COVAX, which distributes Covid-19 vaccines to developing countries,
Thunberg said during an online press conference hosted by WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
"The international community must do more to address the tragedy that is vaccine inequity ... Just as with the climate crisis, we must help those who are the most vulnerable first," Thunberg said.
According to the WHO, one in four people have received their first shot against Covid-19 in many rich countries, while only one in 500 have had a jab in low-income countries.
