Fines of up to € 30,000 in Spain for violating Covid pass rules
The regional government of the Valencian Community (eastern Spain) has approved fines of 60 to 30,000 euros for private individuals, hospitality establishments (hotels, bars, restaurants, nightclubs...), leisure and entertainment venues that fail to comply with the compulsory Covid vaccination certificate.
The regional authorities have modified the Decree 11/2020 that established sanctions against non-compliance with the preventive measures against the coronavirus pandemic. Since Friday, the law includes two new sections with sanctions for those who violate the mandatory nature of the certificate to access certain premises and public spaces.
The penalties could be from 60 to 600 euros for clients who enter the premises without permission or who fail or refuse to show their health passports.
Similar fines (60-600 euros) may be imposed on establishments that do not comply with the obligation to display notices and posters informing of the mandatory nature of the vaccination certificate, according to the instructions issued by the regional government.
The owners of establishments that fail to comply with the order to request the Covid certificate and allow people access to the interior without control, may be fined between 601 and 30,000 euros. In these cases, the sanction will be considered serious by the regional authorities.
From Saturday
All these penalties are applicable from Saturday at 00:00 to establishments with a capacity of more than 50 people; to places of recreational activities with service of restoration and at events, celebrations and music festivals with an attendance of more than 500 people.
