Celebrating Ramadan is also affected by coronavirus
Ramadan, the holiest month for Muslims, is coming. However, this year celebrating Ramadan is different than before due to coronavirus.
Finland asks Muslims to consider the coronavirus outbreak into account even when celebrating Ramadan.
Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) published information on celebrating Ramadan during the coronavirus outbreak for reception center customers. The information is translated into 12 different languages.
Migri asks to keep a distance from other people even during Ramadan. Also said, for the time being, visits by outsiders to reception centers are prohibited and no social gatherings are organized at the reception center facilities.
That means in suhur (the meal consumed early in the morning by Muslims before fasting) and iftar (the evening meal with which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast) should eat alone or with core family.
Normally Muslims eat suhur and iftar with families or friends and it is a tradition to invited loved ones to your place.
Tarawih (nightly prayers performed during the month of Ramadan) also affected restriction measures against Covid-19. Men have come together for tarawih. Even tough tarawih is not compulsory worship, a lot of Muslims give importance to it.
