Coronavirus is in Helsinki
A Finnish woman who had recently traveled to Milan remains hospitalized.
A Finnish woman of working age who had recently traveled to the Italian city of Milan is under treatment at the Helsinki-Uusimaa district hospital (HUS) after being diagnosed with an infection of the new coronavirus (or koronavirus, as spelled in Finns).
The case was reported on Wednesday by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL, in its Finnish acronym). According to the health authority, the infection has been already confirmed by laboratory tests.
To date, Italy has confirmed 12 deaths caused by the coronavirus.
On Wednesday, Finnish authorities reported other two suspected cases of Covid-19. One of them was found in Mikkeli and the other was reported on Tuesday by a passenger travelling by train from Helsinki-Vantaa airport to Jyväskylä.
According to THL, the infected woman in Helsinki is receiving hospital care and her health is "good."
The district hospital (HUS) and local health authorities will continue to investigate the situation in close contact with THL.
