Coronavirus has been found in 18 kindergartens in Helsinki
Helsinki Mayor Jan Vapaavuori said that the coronavirus has been detected in kindergartens of the capital city.
Vapaavuori said that, according to current information, Covid-19 has been found in 18 different kindergartens in Helsinki. And 24 people from the kindergartens’ staff are sick. There are also two children who became ill.
Vapaavuori said there are “336 kindergartens belonging to Helsinki municipality. Coronavirus has been detected in kindergartens which are in different parts of the city.”
Nurseries have taken the necessary measures to prevent infections. Vapaavuori pointed out that some of the patients affected have already recovered.
About 20% of children are still participating in early childhood education in Helsinki.
On Tuesday morning, Minister of Education Li Andersson said that she hopes that the plans to dismantle coronavirus measures will start with lifting restrictions on schools.
